East Brook Students Donate to Center for Food Action
The East Brook ReAct Club, moderated by Mrs. Hammer and Mr. Nutland, presented a $750 check to Michele Lefkowitz, Contract Administrator, at the Center for Food Action. The Center has been struggling to supply assistance to those needy families in this economic downturn as donations have declined and as more families are in need of assistance.
Ms. Lefkowitz spoke to the Club about the three main programs the Center for Food Action offers to help the needy in Bergen County. The program most people are familiar with is the Food Drive Program where families receive a week's supply of groceries once a month. The second program involves financial support for families in danger of losing a living place due to unpaid-rent and or utilities. The third and newest program is the "Snack Pack" program where needy students are provided with nutritious but easy to make foods for the weekend.
The ReAct Club is a community service club, part of Rotary International, and these ReAct students were extremely happy to financially support their Community. This $750 donation to the Center is a tremendous boost during the upcoming holiday season.
