Police: Smashburger Employees Held Up By Armed Robbers

Alleged thieves make off with $5,000 in cash, police say; investigation is ongoing.

Two men, one armed with a handgun, robbed the Paramus Smashburger Saturday night, making off with $5,000 in cash, police said Monday.

Police Deputy Chief Kenneth Ehrenberg said the two men were wearing ski masks and gloves when they entered the Route 17 restaurant at approximately 10:36 p.m. on March 16.

The restaurant was closed at the time and no customers were inside. No employees were hurt, said Ehrenberg.

The manner in which the robbers got away is not known, police said.

An investigation continues and police ask anyone with information to contact Detective Thomas Schroeder at 201-262-3400 extension 404.

How can anyone help the police without a description of the perps. How do they know they were men. I thought they wore a ski mask and gloves. Perhaps they were women,
did the employees see anything else like height, build, or skin color. Are we too P.C. to report the whole story.
