Memorial School PTA Holds Fun Fair Saturday

Games, prizes and food

The Parent Teacher Association is holding its Fun Fair Saturday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., complete with games, prizes, cotton candy, popcorn and pizza.

And you don't even have to feel builty about the junk food—all the proceeds go toward the school, so chow down.

Melinda O'Reilly, the Fun Fair chairwoman for the PTA, said the annual event normally raises upwards of $3,000 for Memorial School, which the PTA uses to donate smart boards, books or anything else the school needs.

"We've bought library furniture in the past," O'Reilly said.

This year visitors to the Fun Fair can buy game cards for $5 that they can use to play 20 games. Aside from the games, with most of the food priced at $1 or $2, the fair makes for an affordable outing for families.

This year there will be hair-coloring, face-painting and a photo booth, among other activities, thanks in part to the donations of local businesses.

"The local businesses, despite the economy, have been really good to us," O'Reilly said.

The Fun Fair is a rare nexus between businesses and  residents, making it a true community event, O'Reilly said.

"Please come," she said. "It's fun and it's a good day out for the family."
