Paramus High School Hosts All-State Opera Festival Saturday

Concert will be held at the Paramus High School auditorium beginning at 3 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 17.

 

The 64th Annual New Jersey Music Education Association (NJMEA) All-State Opera Festival Concert will be held on Saturday, Nov. 17 at 3 p.m.  in the Paramus High School auditorium. 

Students from all over the state of New Jersey auditioned for a featured spot on the concert before Metropolitan Opera singers Wendy White and John Hancock in October. 

Fifteen outstanding soloists, two duets and one large ensemble will share the spotlight. 

In addition, all participants in the festival will combine for three opera choruses; "Coro a bocca chiusa" -The Humming Chorus from Madame Butterfly by Puccini, "Va, Pensiero from Nabucco by Verdi and "Libiamo ne' lieti calici" from La Traviata by Verdi. 

The Paramus String Orchestra will play "Quando me'n vo' and the Finale from La Boheme by Puccini and "Largo al factotum" from the Barber of Seville by Rossini to add to the event.  

As part of the Opera Festival experience, the students and their sponsoring teachers will be treated to the internationally acclaimed lyric tenor, Ronald Naldi,  who will present a voice Master Class in the morning.  Enjoy operatic repertoire performed by fine, young people on a Saturday afternoon.

Admission cost is $10 per person, seniors admitted free. The high school is located at 99 E. Century Road, Paramus.
