Paramus Pet Owners Reminded to Renew Dog Licenses

The Paramus Health Department reminds residents  that all dog and cat licenses will expire on June 30 therefore pet owners who do not apply for renewal before then are liable for a summons and fine for violation of State Law and Borough Ordinance, according to Borough Health Officer Judith Migliaccio.

After July 1, there will be a late charge of $10 in addition to the license fee.
Application for pet licenses should be made in the office of the Health Department in Borough Hall.

License applications may also be downloaded from the Borough website at www.paramusborough.org.

A current certificate of rabies vaccination must be presented at the time of application. The current vaccination must not expire before April 30 for a one year license and new this year, we are issuing 3 year licenses.

The current vaccination must not expire before April 30, 2016 for a 3 year license. If it is not, you will need to have your pet re-vaccinated before a license can be issued. Proof of spaying or neutering is also required if applicable.

The fee for a dog or cat license for one year is $12 for pets that have been spayed or neutered and $15.00 for all others. The fee for a dog or cat license for three years is $30 for pets that have been spayed or neutered and $40 for all others.

Migliaccio advised that it is important to be aware that rabies is present in wild animals in Bergen County. The State of New Jersey recommends euthanasia for unvaccinated dogs and cats with wounds of unknown origin. It is therefore vital that all dogs and cats be vaccinated and licensed.
