Paramus Rescue Earns Top Prize in Extrication Competition

The rescue squad aces its first competition in years

Paramus Rescue Squad took first prize this weekend in a regional extrication competition where they went up against nine other teams from Bergen County, other surrounding counties as well as New York state.

The competition took place in Rutherford on Saturday. All the teams had to peform similiar extrication techniques and were judged by safety, incident command, patient care, knowledge of tools and work done within a certain amount of time, said Captain John Pecoraro.

The captain says Paramus Rescue has competed in regional, national and even international competitions before but it had been six years since the last one they entered.
