Paramus Sandy Damage Considered Minimal

Interactive map shows town-by-town data of Superstorm Sandy damages to homes and rental units all over the state.

An interactive map which shows town-by-town data of the impact Superstorm Sandy had on homes and businesses shows Paramus was not as severely impacted as some of its neighbors.

The map published by NJSpotlight, which analyzes figures from New Jersey Department of Community Affairs shows a total of 2 homes and 2 rental units had damage, the majority of which was considered minor, amounting to less than $8,000. According to the analysis major damage was considered between $8,000 and $28,000 and severe amounts to more than $28,000.

According to the map, nearby Fair Lawn had a total of 7 homes and 1 rental unit with damage, while Saddle Brook had a total of 84 damaged homes and 2 damaged rental units. River Edge had a total of 53 homes with damages, the majority were all considered minor.

The interactive map shows Little Ferry and Moonachie among the hardest hit communities along with towns in the coastal counties of Ocean and Monmouth.

Moonachie had a total of 560 homes, and 114 rentals listed as damaged according to the map. Broken down into minor, major and severe, the largest number of damaged homes and rentals were classified as 'major' damage. Zero rental units in Hasbrouck Heights were listed as damaged according to this map.

Little Ferry had a total of 1,036 homes and 489 rental units damaged. All damaged homes were either considered major or severe and the majority of rentals suffered major damage, according to the data on the map.
