Route 17 in Paramus Reopens in Both Directions

Roadway was shut earlier due to flooding.

Route 17 in Paramus has been reopened in both directions, Paramus Police said Monday afternoon.

Flooding earlier in the day shut the roadway at Midland Avenue on the southbound side and at Madison Avenue on the north bound side. 

The National Weather Service had issued a flash flood warning for Monday morning for parts of Bergen, Passaic, Essex, Union and parts of Rockland and Orange counties in New York state. 

Rain showers are expected to continue Monday afternoon and evening. 

Here is the forecast for the Paramus area.

  • Monday - Showers and thunderstorms likely. Some of the storms could produce heavy rain. Cloudy, with a high near 82. South wind 6 to 11 mph.  Chance of precipitation is 70%. New rainfall amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible.
  • Monday night - Showers and thunderstorms likely, mainly before midnight.  Cloudy, with a low around 71. South wind 5 to 9 mph. Chance of precipitation is 70%. New rainfall amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible
  • Tuesday - Showers and thunderstorms likely. Cloudy, with a high near 84. South wind 7 to 10 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New rainfall amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible.
  • Tuesday night- A chance of showers and thunderstorms. Cloudy, with a low around 70. South wind 3 to 8 mph. Chance of precipitation is 40%.
