Paramus DPW Hits the Roads for First Major Storm of the Year

State of emergency declared as heavy snow and bitter-cold temperatures blast the area.

Snow storms, like the one this week create grueling working conditions and long hours for workers of the Paramus DPW.

“We take pride in how well our guys respond to the snow,” said Mayor Rich LaBarbiera. “They did some light salting this morning and then we sent a large portion of the DPW workers home around noon today to get some rest.”

The storm was expected to bring its worst conditions to Paramus Thursday night into Friday morning.

“We’ll bring DPW crews back in later tonight and they’ll hit the storm hard,” said LaBarbiera.

DPW workers could end up working through 1 p.m. Friday.

The Borough of Paramus would like to remind folks in town that parking is not allowed on any snow covered street and to proceed with caution if travel is necessary.

“We always urge drivers to eliminate whatever unnecessary trips they might have. I would just recommend for everybody to get comfortable, ride the storm out and let our DPW do their jobs,” said LaBarbiera.
