Bruno Mars (Who?) Is Your Super Bowl Halftime Star

Bruce Springsteen, The Rolling Stones, Madonna, U2, Prince, Justin Timberlake, Beyonce.

And now, Bruno Mars.

The NFL announced Sunday that the Hawaiian-born singer-songwriter would join a list of international megastars as headliners of America's biggest game when it comes to New Jersey in February 2014.

His selection as Super Bowl XLVIII  halftime musician may come as a surprise to some older viewers used to seeing established, perennial performers working the halftime stage. To most of American, Bruno Mars has been a known-quantity since only about 2010.

Mars, at 27, is the youngest Super Bowl performer in recent memory. He's best known for his mega-popular singles "Just the Way You Are" and "Grenade." He's been nominated for seven Grammy Awards and won Best Pop Vocal Performance in 2011.

What do you think of the choice? Bold? Boring? Meh?
