Burglars Caught With Stolen Items in Traffic Stop, Cops Say

Two men were caught with loot from a burglary they had just committed and items from a Paramus break-in when they were stopped Tuesday night in Teaneck, police said.

Tyrone Goins, 34, of Edgewater, and Jamar Travis, 27, of Paterson, were each charged with receiving stolen property, concealing evidence and possession of burglary tools. Travis was also charged with hindering apprehension for giving false information regarding his identity to officers, Teaneck police said.

According to police, Detective Edward Kazmierczak observed a vehicle pass him with an occupant he recognized as Goins. Kazmierczak followed the vehicle until it parked on Summit Avenue, police said.

Kazmierczak and Detective Kevin Brennan approached the vehicle and saw one of the occupants try to throw a gold bracelet into the roadway, police said. The officers then saw several items in the back seat that included a fur coat and women's handbags, police said.

Goins and Travis also were in possession of gloves and ski masks, police said.

Teaneck police determined some of the items in the vehicle were stolen earlier that night in a Fair Lawn residential burglary, according to the report.

Police executed a search warrant on Thursday of the vehicle and were able to identify some of the items as those stolen from a Paramus home on Monday, according to the report.

Other items were still being identified and additional charges are possible pending the investigation, police said.
