Cops: Paramus Woman Among 6 Arrested on Cocaine Charges

Group was at a hotel room in Fairfield when police arrived Tuesday, cops say.

A Paramus woman was among six arrested in a Fairfield hotel after cops found cocaine in the room Tuesday night, Fairfield Police Chief Charles Voelker announced in a release Wednesday.

According to the release, cops responded to the LaQunita Hotel at about 10 p.m. to follow up on another incident. When cops got to room 159, they noticed drug paraphernalia, and after an investigation, found cocaine packaged for distribution, a scale, a quantity of suspected marijuana, and $765 in cash, Voelker said.

The six people in the hotel room – Christopher Chytrak, 21, of Wayne, Sophia DeCarlo, 18, of Paramus, Edward Doherty, 18, and Samer Merhi, 23, both of Woodland Park, Anthony Jimenez, 23, of Totowa, and a 17 year old juvenile – were arrested on possession and intent to distribute charges, police said.

All of the adults were released of their own recognizance pending an appearance in Superior Court next week, cops said. The juvenile was released to parents pending a family court hearing, police said.
