Teens Accused of Aggressive Carjacking Attempt at Garden State Plaza

The two boys allegedly attempted to pull a woman from her parked car Tuesday afternoon, report says.

According to the report, police say a 34-year-old Ridgefield Park woman was sitting in her parked car outside the mall’s Best Buy store at about 1 p.m. Tuesday when the two teens opened her unlocked door and tried to pull her out of the car.

One teen grabbed the woman’s keys from her hand, and she struggled with them before they ran away in separate directions, the report said.

Both teens were caught by police in the backyards of homes in nearby residential neighborhoods – one on Fairfield Drive and the other on Cloverdale Road, both in Paramus, the report said.

Both boys were being held at the Bergen County Juvenile Detention Center in Teterboro on juvenile complaints of carjacking and resisting arrest, it said.
