Paramus Council Election Brings New Faces

Republican Councilmen Ralph Amato and Eric Nazziola will not seek re-election this year.

Four new candidates have entered the race for the Paramus council this year.  

Republican council incumbents Ralph Amato and Eric Nazziola are not seeking re-election.

Candidates filed their petitions to run in the June 4 primary prior to the Monday 4 p.m. deadline.

Democrats Carol Daniele and Michael DeLamater and Republicans Jeanne T. Weber and Stephen J. Sullivan will run on their respective party tickets in the June primarny and are then expected to face off in the November election.

Amato and Nazziola won election in 2010 and are the last two Republicans left from what was once an all Republican council.

The past two years Democrat challengers have unseated Republican council incumbents.

In 2011, Maria Elena Bellinger and Joseph Lagana defeated Cathy Bentz and Maureen O'Brien and in 2012, Patsy Verile and Donna Warburton defeated Denis Arslanian and Michael Rohdieck.
