Joining a select group of peers, Bergen Community College composition and literature professor Janet Henderson has earned entry into the Mid-Career Fellowship Program at Princeton University.

The program – developed for community college professors in New Jersey – enables participants to take courses at Princeton during the 2014-15 academic year.Program fellows study alongside peers, conduct topical research and meet monthly to discuss issues in higher education.

For Henderson, of Ridgewood, who began at Bergen in 1971, the fellowship marks a return engagement, having participated earlier in her career. This time, she seeks to study how students may perceive their future based on popular culture, media and literature.

“I have been in education for a long time, but there is always something new and exciting to study,” she said.

The fellows’ class of 2013-14 included Bergen’s Vanda Bozicevic and Barry Freeman.
