State Releases School Violence, Vandalism Report

Officials from the New Jersey Department of Education released Thursday the 2012-13 school year Violence, Vandalism and Substance Abuse in the Schools Report.

Fair Lawn had 3,948 enrolled students with 11 incidents of violence, three incidents of vandalism, two incidents with weapons, two incidents with substances and 26 HIB for a total of 55 incidents.

Paramus Police arrested a teen who allegedly brought a .22 caliber handgun to Windsor Prepatory High School on Midland Avenue in September.

Across Bergen County, there were 71,018 students with 669 incidents of violence, 111 incidents of vandalism, 67 incidents with weapons, 185 incidents with substances and 402 HIB for a total of 1,400 incidents. No Bergen districts were among the nine most violent in the state.
