What were you doing on Oct. 9? It’s safe bet that you weren’t trying on Viking artifacts or learning ancient methods of navigating the sea.
Unless you were a student in either Kathleen Kresja or Chris Mazzo’s eight grade social studies class at West Brook, that is.
Oct. 9 was Leif Ericson Day and the two classes were given a chance to do some hands on learning. Ericson is an explorer who is credited with discovering North America around year 1,000.
Students at West Brook got to try on Viking helmets, shields and chain mail shirts and were taught about what life was like for early explorers.
Friday is World Pasta Day. Bust out the eggs and flower and teach your kids, or yourself, how make homemade pasta.
