Paladins Hockey Eyes Another Big North Championship

The Paladins are off to another hot start and are looking to follow in the footsteps of last year's squad.

The Paramus Catholic ice hockey team is looking to continue to build the success they had last year.

The Paladins are 9-2-2 through their first 13 games of the 2013-14 season and have outscored their opponent by 57 goals over that stretch.  Senior Matt Lepinski, the Paladins top goal scorer, has already registered 18 goals on the season to go along with seven assists.

Goalkeeper John Pitera, a sophomore, has seen 179 shots fired at him this season and only 14 of them have made it between the pipes, which means he stops roughly 92 percent of the shots thrown his direction.

Paramus Catholic won a Big North regular season championship and played deep into the state playoffs in 2013. If they keep winning games, they could do more of the same this year.

The Paladins take the ice next on Friday, Jan. 24 against St. Joseph Regional of Montvale.
