Bergen Regional Medical Center Honors Top Supporters

Paramus' Bergen Regional Medical Center has recognized two of its top supporters - Lois Horowitz and Louis J. Weiss, both Fair Lawn residents - with the 2013 Bergen Benefactor Award.

The award recognizes individuals who have enabled BRMC to continue its mission to educate the community about health issues, support educational programs for caregivers and improve the quality of life for those served by the hospital.

Horowitz founded the hospital's Foundation back in 1992 when it was called Bergen Pines and has helped create many of the programs that are still part of BRMC today.

Over the years she has raised more than $2 million in donations and services that went towards the creation of the hospital's first gift shop, the restoration of the hospital's historic 1930s gazebo and the building of the only Horticultural Therapy Greenhouse in a Bergen County hospital.

Weiss, CEO of WFM-Project & Construction, Inc. was instrumental in the renovations of the auditorium at Bergen Regional which included installing new floors, acoustical ceiling, lighting, AV equipment, doors and other aesthetical improvements to create more functional and accessible space for the BRMC residents and patients.

Both were also highly noted for their service in their hometown community and in the county.

“We cannot thank Louis and Lois enough for their incredible amount of time and service towards enhancing the well-being of Bergen County residents. The Bergen Benefactor Award is being put into good hands this year,” said the Foundation at BRMC Chairperson John Cosgrove.
