Sheriff Candidates Debate Merger, Redundancies in Services

Check out the debates between the two candidates running for Bergen County Sheriff and between the six candidates running for three Bergen County Freeholder seats.

Sheriff Michael Saudino, a Republican, is running against James Mordaga, a Democrat, for your vote as Bergen County Sheriff on Tuesday.

The potential merger of the Bergen County Police Department and Bergen County Sheriff’s Department was one of the major topics discussed. 

This merger is proposed by Democratic Freeholders and plans to trim redundancies and save taxpayers millions. According to northjersey.com, Saudino has recognized that the merger will save money

The video above shows a debate between Saudino and Mordaga last week. 

Three Bergen County Freeholder seats will also be filled by the count of the ballot boxes on Tuesday. Republican candidates John D. Mitchell, Maura R. DeNicola and John A. Felice are running against Democratic candidates James J. Tedesco III, Lorraine Waldes and P. Christoper Tully.
